Mayo Clinic Resilience
Resilience is the ability to bounce back from stress and adversity, withstand hardships, and grow despite life’s downturns. Your resilience depends on building a resilient mind. Backed by more than a dozen clinical trials, Amit Sood, M.D. developed a digital program designed to help people build resilience, reduce stress and anxiety, and increase happiness.
I was asked to design a prototype website that would allow Mayo Clinic to test the program in a comprehensive user study in order to gauge usability of the course design structure, effectiveness of the program, and collect product reviews to determine whether or not the program was something for which users would be willing to pay.
The Design Approach
One of the primary goals of the program was to help reduce stress and anxiety, which is why it seemed even more important than ever to present users with an experience that was calming and manageable, in spite of the need to provide a significant amount of program information.
CONSULTATION
Initially met with stakeholders to establish relationship, understand needs, and define project objectives. Continued to meet regularly with stakeholders throughout the project in a process that vaguely resembled "Agile" or "Scrum" methodology, to track progress incrementally in defined project phases.
UX / UI Design
Developed hierarchical sitemaps based on appropriate taxonomy of information and layout structure.
Translated Mayo Clinic brand strengths and most current visual assets into an attractive, intuitive, guiding and responsive experience for users.
Art Direction
Provided visual direction and guidance to internal designers and external vendors creating Resilience-related presentations, graphic-embedded email templates, and web pages.
Lead design / illustration
Provided a high-quality design solution for prototype educational products, primarily a trial website used for marketing research. This design solution involved the illustration of iconography and infographics throughout the course materials.
